And let's allow for role reversal. Rather its me on the left. |
'Am I stylish or even decent looking against her?'
'I look like crap.'
I could greatly refer to this form of action with confidence. And yes, I will put my hands up and say that. However, I think that regardless of confidence, if you see a super-lady; let's say who is just flawless in every way (With a very big budget and every form of beauty appointment in her filofax, or even her PA), then I guess we instantly feel a tad insecure.
I am sure many of you will have come across that 'gif' of that 'you vs 'me', where they essentially compare two women who happen to be in the same place, but obviously one looks flawless against the other, who is instead crouched looking cumbersome in the corner. Of course that is entirely out of order, as one may be having a moment, which are allowed to have. Sorry Beyonce, but you set the bar too high, with the 'we woke up like this' idea.
I ask this myself everyday when I hit the streets of London Town. However, I have two reasons for this.
Firstly, being a girl, is one thing. It is not just what you wear. You are what you eat could be argued to pose some importance. Your skin, make-up, HAIR, it all adds up to create the perfect picture. The 'Hair' is emboldened, only because I have the mane of Hagrid. Especially in the lovely land of England, and now reaching A/W my hair erupts into a flurry of bush.
On the other hand, it is way easier for the opposite sex to looks absolutely dashing. They need about 3 pairs of clothing items, a universal pair of shoes, hopefully matching socks and a hella load of cologne for us all to be falling to their feet. And how could I forget the facial hair! Lord, you gentlemen just have to let mother nature take over and its all well. I walked past a rather dashing gentlemen who looked like he walked out of the J.Crew catalogue. Like how?
It is a matter of fact, that the lads have it easier. But with girls, it could be arguably the same, but at the same time- not so much. Girls have a masse of things to choose from in terms of clothing items, make-up looks, tan, fake boobs, fake butts, fake eyelashes; this could go on forever. Also the hair, it all adds up.
This has accounted to become a rant, more than anything else. However, it would be great to see how many others feel the same. Also, what are you coping mechanisms in this instance? If I am looking rather horrendous and happen to walk past that cute guy I happen to see everyday; which actually does happen, my hands and everything in my possession makes way to crawl up to my face and somehow allow to hide myself.
However, it is my fault to leave the house with absolutely no make-up, unwashed hair and wearing my sweats.
